If you're in Massachusetts and need an abortion

If you’re 26 weeks, 6 days pregnant or less, it is legal for you to get an abortion in Massachusetts. Although Massachusetts bans abortion after 26 weeks, 6 days, many providers stop offering abortion earlier in pregnancy.

If you are under the age of 16, a parent or guardian must give you permission to get an abortion. If getting the permission of a parent or legal guardian is not an option for you, you can seek a judicial bypass. A judicial bypass allows you to waive the requirement for parental involvement.

If you are a minor in Massachusetts and would like free legal support to help you navigate the judicial bypass process, call Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts at 617-616-1636 to speak with a patient navigator. Make sure to tell them you need help getting a judicial bypass.

You can leave Massachusetts and get an abortion out of state.

Use our abortion provider search to find a provider. If you’re having trouble getting an appointment or need other help related to getting an abortion, call the NAF (National Abortion Federation) Hotline at 1-800-772-9100.

Please note that most require you to have scheduled an appointment before you can start applying for assistance.

If you schedule an appointment outside of Massachusetts, you can also try to search for assistance in the location where your appointment will be.
