If you're in North Carolina and need an abortion

If you’re 12 weeks, 6 days pregnant or less, it is legal for you to get an abortion in North Carolina. Although North Carolina bans abortion after 12 weeks, 6 days, many providers stop offering abortion earlier in pregnancy.

If you’re under the age of 18, you will need permission from a parent or guardian to get an abortion.

If getting the permission of a parent or legal guardian is not an option for you, you can seek a judicial waiver (also known as a “judicial bypass” in many states).

If you’re in North Carolina and would like to be confidentially connected with a trusted adult or lawyer to help you navigate the judicial waiver process, text ABBY to 844-997-2229.

Other North Carolina laws may make it more difficult to access abortion care in North Carolina.

You can leave North Carolina and get an abortion out of state.

Use our abortion provider search to find a provider. If you’re having trouble getting an appointment or need other help related to getting an abortion, call the NAF (National Abortion Federation) Hotline at 1-800-772-9100.
